CoPilot HD USA – GPS Navigation & Offline Maps App Reviews

Not working on 6 plus

Cannot use the app. I always get a 318 timeout error when I try to download a map. Waste of money.

Forget this one if you are in Canada

I was floored by the poor quality of the Canadian maps. They have little detail, very few POIs, and show nothing below secondary roads. Unfortunately, grid and gravel roads are a way of in Western Canada. Bottom Line: I cannot recommend this to anyone who lives in Canada. Not ready for prime time.

Great tool for trips in Canada

Quite helpful and pretty accurate even in Quebec with bilingual signage. Love the speed display that was dead-on with the speedometer. The advanced warning for turnoffs on highways was dead-on accurate as well. Love the POIs that was shown for each different cities along the trip.

Far from ready for Canada

If youre to charge for Canada, make sure you have the right maps, streets, and numbers. Some of the streets and POIs havent been there for over 20 to 30 years. All the info for streets exists, come on people, not complicated... Now we know the net reviews were pushed for publicity. Shame...

Co pilot live

Bought this worthless GPS app, after studying it I flushed it in about 30 minutes, absolutely a joke, long live the Tom Tom, and believe me I know how to use the gpss as Ive been using them since they were invented in both flying and tour bus driving.

Great when data roaming is off

I am canadian and just used this in the US for a full week with pleasant and useful results, reasonably priced, a great alternative to a GPS when driving in foreign countries.

Number one

Number one

Bad navigator

I dont recommend it. On Maui we lost 1 hour because co-pilot tell us go where there no any roads. I deleted the app.

it works perfectly! must to have app

Excellent

Have used Co Pilot on numerous occasions to shorten driving time and avoid traffic jams.

East to Use...Best Traffic Integration w/ Inrix

Really great app, world-wide maps, easy functionality, and integrated with the most accurate traffic data in the world too, with Inrix on the back end. The only one in the GPS mapping app in the App Store I could find. Best of both breeds!!!

Needs improvement

I thought I loved it when I first started using it, but then noticed serious problems. Audio guidance is spotty at best, and they use Apples TTS which is a huge memory hog. TTS tends to quit working while driving, and this cost me two hours extra driving time because I kept missing turns due to voice guidance quitting without me realizing it. I was trying to get to Belle Vernon PA, and would have ended up in OH had my wife not checked on me using Find my Friends and phoned me to tell me I was going the wrong way. The non TTS voices only give vague guidance. For example turn left, not turn left onto exit 23. This is not helpful, and requires that I read the screen to really know what to do. Thus the second major problem: the font is too small for someone who needs bifocals. I cannot read the screen! Ugh! After the latest app update, the sound is still very buggy, and does not work most of the time. Search function is poor. I tried to get nearby gas stations to show on the map, and had no luck after several button presses. Google accomplished this in only two button presses. I have been forced to use Google Maps instead for most applications.

Do not waste your money

I rarely take the time to review a product but in this case I feel compelled to report how badly this app performs as a navigation tool. Testing it in situations where I know the best ways to drive, it failed miserably on several tries. Navigating to the same destinations with Google, Apple and TomTom Apps all worked well. CoPilot has a nice interface and it is quite customizable and therefore has a lot of potential. But unfortunately this navigation app does such a horrible job of giving you the correct directions it is a complete waste of money. I only wish I had done more research before purchasing as apparently this fatal flaw has been previously reported.

Goofy UI, bad directions, meh

Driving around Seattle, multiple instances of CP picking a route that wasnt the shortest, or contained an illegal turn, or contained driving thru a dead-end street. The UI needs work: it takes more taps than it ought to to terminate a trip, search for a POI, submit feedback, and get to the apps settings. Since originally writing this review, Ive submitted application feedback and map improvements. None of my improvements have been in the map updates, and the UI is unchanged since I bought the app. Im concluding that the developer isnt investing any money into it. If you buy this, dont expect any improvements or bug fixes, ever. The only advantage this has over Google maps or Apple Maps is that its local and you dont need a cellular connection while using it. Google maps and Apple Maps both give *much* better directions with much more sophistication, and a much better display.

A little disappointed

While most features work well and the app is very customizable, the verbal directions need to improve. It only tells you to turn right or left but not where. Even thou where you need to turn is listed at the bottom of the screen

Sorry I updated!

Could they have made creating a new destination any harder to find? My goodness! It was so simple before add destination click click put in contacts not so easy now hate this freaking update. Easy after closing just click on continue driving where the heck is destination in this new version? Map wrong too. Keeps telling me Im in a location that Im not. Also telling me to stay on Durango while it turns left its a straight Street there is no left curve turn or anything. For some reason some of my contacts are great out I cant even select them. So frustrated! DELETING

Latest version broke GUI

The latest update screwed up the user interface, so now I cant zoom back out after zoning in on the map screen and the menu button sits on top of the other info in the upper left-hand corner of the map screen, so I cant read the current street name. Seems like this is a ridiculous oversight, especially considering this is a paid app.

Dont update

This was a terrible update. No longer able to move stops around after optimizing stops. Map is smaller and you now have exit each point you mark. Just terrible how do you go back to old update.

Reduced functionality

Most updates add functionality, this one took options away. I always used 2d map and directions on the same screen. It was my preferred way of knowing my full route. My iPad is ideal for this. This is no longer an option. And I now supposed to toggle between screens while Im driving??? Why not keep it as an option?

Ok App But Needs File Sharing

Ok app but lots of choices in this space. I use this on a motorcycle and its decent but the App desperately needs file sharing so routes can be planned on computer and uploaded. This is a simple developer issue that Co-Pilot lacks. Co-Pilot has heard its users say this is the #1 demanded feature and yet have only said "we hear you" for 2 years. The latest release is touted as a "major overhaul" and yet still doesnt include file sharing - its time Co-Pilot fixes this or throws in the towel as an app developer.
